Often we look back and think we could have done many things differently, sometimes we fall into addiction to lament or to martyr ourselves for our choices and attitudes.
Ok, everyone regrets certain things and fail many times, but if we get stuck or paralyzed with that, we end up living in the past and no longer are present or glimpse the infinite possibilities of future.
An interesting and constructive way of dealing with the past, is to use what happened as a source of learning, such as a teaching or a training to be able to do differently in the next opportunity, I truly believe that any experience, however bad it is, can make us learn something.
I usually do a very simple exercise every time I find myself automatically irritated with some situation of my past. I first write down the situation, then I write the greatest learning I had with it and finally write an attitude that commit me to have different approach next time based on what I’ve learned. Doing this exercise helps me to stop whining and take a more constructive look at what happens to me.
The most amazing thing is that by the simple fact of being alive, we have a present and a future! In other words, we have a sea of opportunities to do things differently! Have you ever stopped to think that your future is there and writing it in the way that most attracts you is a choice that starts with you?
Of course, choices involve uncertainties (see text: I know nothing… So what?), We can’t fully control the environment around us and the consequences of our actions, but we rather choose our attitudes.
The more these actions are aligned with what guides the story we choose to write in our future, the greater the chances of make our wishes a reality.
Take the opportunity to do differently today! Your choice at this moment can guarantee a liberator future.
