This week we will share the story of Bel, a captivating and full of energy person who decided to break with the professional standards of her family and chose a career that gives her more satisfaction. In 2010, she opened the Producer Euphoria and now is about to start a new phase of her life based on study and reflection.
Born into a family of engineers and administrators, Bel have always been sure she would didn’t want to follow the career path of her parents: “In my family almost everyone works in the financial market, I grew up watching the day to day of my parents and always hated all this, I was sure that I would not do what they did. “
Her passions were more related to art and culture: “I’ve always been nerd, since childhood I loved to read, go to the museum, to exhibitions, to the theater and my parents always encouraged me doing that.”
Influenced by one of the few members of her family who was not in the financial market, she decided studying International Relations at college: “I have a couple of uncles who live in France of which I’ve always been very close. My uncle works with politics and is very engaged in the topic, it just inspired me and I decided to study International Relations. ”
But it did not take long for her to realize that she wouldn’t want to work with politics: “I started college and hated. All matters more related to politics I thought were very boring. I went for a quick internship at the Department of Culture and got really disappointed, I’ve felt that no one was working. I realized that politics was not for me. “
As she didn’t have much clarity of she wanted to do, she decided to pursue and complete college and worked a few months in an NGO to receive an unexpected invitation: “A college friend would shoot a short movie and called me asking for help with the production. I knew nothing about it, but went to help in any kind of work, literally serve coffee and load materials and ended up finding it all very interesting. “
Shortly after Bel took a job in an art gallery and started a parallel career in production as a freelancer: “I’ve got a job in an art gallery, but as I didn’t have much to do there, I could pick up production jobs as a freelancer. It really opened my mind because I realized it was indeed possible to make a living doing art.”
She was following the flow and it arose one opportunity to work in a producer: “I got a job in a production company that worked with things related to Brazil-Poland relationship, there did many great works, I was a month in Poland producing a Brazilian film festival” .
After a while, she decided learning about something new, and so decided to work with a film distributor, but gradually was becoming disenchanted with the cinema market: “I decided to work at a distributor to learn more about this kind of work. It was important because I learned a lot, but I began to lose patience with this “world of cinema”. There are lots of dazzled people with a lot of ego what started irritating me a lot. “
At this time a friend ended up inviting her to produce shows and introducing her to a person who would become a work partner: “A friend called me to produce some shows and record clips of his band and in the direction of these jobs was Rafael with whom I really connected and that called to produce a play.”
Bel was receiving many calls to work as a producer, for the production of shows, plays and even the production of Luiza Possi’s DVD. Amid so much going on, she decided to make a big decision: “I had signed up for a movie Masters outside of Brazil, but didn’t want to work only with the film industry anymore, there were several proposals for jobs as a producer and I realized it would be more interesting to open my own Producer. I called my parents and told about the idea. “
In 2010 she opened the Producer Euphoria that works as a Theather Company and music groups agency. Since then she did numerous projects with her partner Rafa, met many people, has won many awards, went through several hassles and learned a lot!
Gradually the challenges of the new company were getting smaller and more restricted to managing day to day issues. Bel that have been working since she is 17 years old with no stop, realized that it was perhaps time to take a break, to study and reflect on what format she wanted her company to have in the future. At this point, she is very excited starting a Masters in London in Management of Cultural Institutions!
Bel broke with the standards of her family, followed her passions and continues to pursue a career that will bring her greater satisfaction. How about you, are you also in your quest?
