At The Sun Jar you will find weekly posts, each telling the story of a different person who has gotten his dream out of the dark, be it through a simple change or full-on life changes. By way of introduction, I now share my story with you.
With a Jewish father and a catholic mother, I was raised in a family where religion was the source of several disagreements. At the age of 7 I decided to understand the meaning of and reason behind these conflicts. Studying religion from this point of view was amazing, not only because I was studying the history of a people, their culture, values and trajectory, but also because it was in this situation that I first came into contact with the original meaning of the word religion:
Religion, from the Latin “religionem”, semantically means to “re connect”, which may well be interpreted as the search of man to reconnect with his internal Self, with those around him and with the Whole, in order to re-establish the balance and connection with everything that’s around him. This “connection” goes beyond having this or that religion as a path to follow, since it’s based on the plurality and diversity of individuals; in the existence of several possible roads towards development, achieving self-awareness and searching for meaning.
And so, determined to find myself and be found, too, so that one day I would be able to help others do the same thing, I set out on this long and diverse journey in search of an ideal. From books I moved on to experiences and then on to practical applications.
My yearning to understand myself and to understand what happened around me made me want to study a lot of things, from business administration to astrology. Things that were more on the “unorthodox” side: courses on transpersonal psychology, quantum physics, tarot, anthroposophy, reiki, chakras and integral theory. On the other side was the desire to understand and experience the pragmatic: a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a post-graduate degree in Political Science, a few years working in a firm specializing in strategic consulting, a few others working with marketing in a multinational company and lastly, with activities focused on personal development. I’ve also spent time in countries such as India, Thailand, Morocco and Turkey, as well as in more traditional countries such as France and the United States.
For more than 15 years (from 7 to 23), I spent the better part of my days working with what was pragmatic. Parallel to that, however, I always tried to somehow dedicate myself to my passions related to the so-called “re connecting”. I’ve always been highly committed to both, but never believed I was sufficiently prepared to turn my passions into an everyday reality for me. But even though I was at the top of class at university and always excelled wherever I was working, I still felt restless and empty.
So, in 2010, I found something that made me realize that it was indeed possible to work with the two things I love the most, without having to give up the pragmatic side of things. It was around that time that I first came into contact with coaching and during the next year I first heard of Integral Coaching Canada, ICC (https://www.integralcoachingcanada.com/), through which I later became an Integral Master Coach. With the methodology of the ICC I found a robust, disruptive and pragmatic way to support people in bridging the gap between who they are and who they wish to be, so that they can feel more satisfied and connected.
Since then I’ve been focusing on improving my knowledge of this methodology: I continue to work full-time in a personal development consulting firm, while also coaching individuals in my spare time. The results my coachees have achieved through this process have been so positive and my pleasure at being with them has been so great, that I decided I should not only invest more time in this, but also find a way to share it with more people.
And that’s why The Sun Jar was created! As a movement which seeks to help people get their dreams out of the dark.
At The Sun Jar we will share stories from people who have already made their dreams come true. Every week I will interview a different person and post their story here. In addition to these stories you will also find several texts, tips and inspirational material here, and you`ll be able to learn more about coaching and about the programs that we offer , which are tailored to help you find your happier way of living.
